Laser Cut Simple ITX Box
Summary
Since I needed a small and cheap Mini ITX computer case I designed one using boxmaker and some Inkscape magic for the ventilation holes. The box displayed on the pictures has been customized for a local elementary school by adding their logo on the front panel. The entire case was designed to be cut out of a single 600 mm x 300 mm sheet of 3 mm thick MDF
The case will hold a standard Mini ITX motherboard with either an onboard power supply or a picoPSU with a DC input. It also features mounting holes for a 2.5" drive, but make sure that this will fit with your motherboard. The ventilation holes are optimized for the motherboards I used, so you might want to check the optimal placement of those holes depending on your hardware.
you will also need the following hardware :
- a power button (and you might need to modify the hole in the front for your button)
- 8 x M3x6 screws for the motherboard (add 4 more for the hard drive if needed)
- 4 x M3x10mm standoffs
Just cut it out and assemble the case. Be careful when placing the rear IO plate because the wood on the top is rather thin. You can glue 3 feet together to make a sturdy foot or you can cut it out of a thicker piece of scrap material.
