Laser Cut Monster Truck Simplified CNC/Laser
Summary
With all my models I have a maximum simplicity in mind. But sometimes a single detail gives this little extra cnc-ish flavour. In this case the tires are engraved to get the cool thread that is a main feature on monster trucks.
My build was done on a desktop cnc-machine by Stepcraft using a spiral-toothed 1.2 mm flute. I used 6.5 mm baltic birch plywood and 20 mm black MDF for the tires. The tires were engraved by my poor man's 4th axis, which is more of a rotary engraver really. Two 6 mm beech rod made the axles. Some spray paint gave the truck a nice finish.
A laser cutter might be a good alternative tool to create smaller versions, you just need to find a solution for the engraved tires.
