Summary

This is meant to attach just above your kitchenaid refrigerator's filtered water dispenser. In addition to the 3d printed parts, you'll need 2 M5x16 cap-head screws.

Printed flat-ish in PETG. PLA should also work. Ideally, you'd actually print both pieces on their side to make the hinges as strong as possible, but mine worked anyway.

Here are the steps for assembly:

  1. Remove the plastic cover plate at the top of the water dispenser. Mine said "Filtered Water" on it.
  2. Remove the screw from underneath it with a phillips screwdriver (and hold onto it).
  3. Place the "Dispenser Base" 3d printed part where the cover plate was.
  4. Use the screw you removed earlier to screw the new base into place.
  5. Position the "Dispenser Lever" such that the holes line up for the top hinge.
  6. Screw in the 2 M5x20 screws from either side. If your settings are just right, you may be able to hand-tighten them. Otherwise you'll need an allen key.

BONUS STEP: You want to get it so the lever just barely activates the button when it's pressed all the way down. You may need to add a little bit of tape to the lever where it touches the button to dial-in the tolerances for your refrigerator.
