Summary

NASA Saturn V Apollo, 1/200 scale. Approximately 22" long.

I had to take some minor liberties with the design due to limited information, or to print more easily. For instance, the fins are a little too tall, in order to create a better overhang slope for the printer.

Assembly is via pegs, which you may need to rescale slightly depending on your printer's tolerances. I sized the pegs based on my own printer's output (the 3D assets have the pegs slightly undersized for the sockets, understanding that the slicer+printer would make the walls a little too thick). Also there is a model with all of the parts arranged together, for a single print job option, however I still recommend printing one at a time.

While there are already plenty of space rocket models available, I decided to make some of my own, since it's often hard to find the right combination of detail and scale if you are being specific. Some are highly detailed and intended to be printed large, and others have low polygon counts that result in visibly flat faces in cylinders. Plus, not everyone includes scale information, and it's not always clear if the correct dimensions were adhered to.

For my personal project, I am trying to create a lineup of space rockets, past and present, in the same scale. I settled on 1:200 because it's large enough to keep the small rockets from being too tiny, but not so large that the Saturn V and SLS will be enormous either. My goal is to have very simple designs that will be easy to print, sand, and paint, and only imply the more intricate details, if at all, however retain a reasonably good approximation of the dimensions and proportions appropriate to the original.

Many of my models are based on the the pieces I previously created for mods in Kerbal Space program, but redrawn to have different details and polygon counts. At the time, I was recreating real-world rockets, and attempting to match their actual dimensions based on diagrams and measurements I could find online. I've done what I can to keep these reasonably correct, while simplifying or omitting various details, so please don't assume they're 100% perfect. :)

I hope you enjoy!
