I like the idea of TheWolfDogg's modular egg tray, but I wanted something that used less plastic (reduced almost 50%) and printed faster and more reliably (reduced by 40%). How? I found that the eggs are held fine by the perimeter of the circle and don't need to touch the bottom, so I eliminated the spherical detail. I also used a dovetail instead of the T-style connector slides and filleted the corners to reduce deceleration and acceleration time/jerk.
There are two models; the small/medium model works great for small to medium eggs (outer diameter ≤ 42mm) on average. It'll hold large or extra large eggs fine, but if you have several of them connected with large eggs, the eggs start to cramp each other. The large/extra-large variant works for larger grocery store chicken eggs (up to 46mm diameter).
