Summary

I wanted to create a chess board that is easy to assemble and print on smaller printers. The white squares can be clicked on the board without glue. I recommend to not remove the squares after assembling them, as it could break the parts.

Required parts:

  • 4x board (dark filament)
  • 8x pin (I recommend to use more infill or walls to make them stronger)
  • 32x square (light filament, I used glow-in-the-dark)
    • There are three variations: tight, regular, and loose. Choose whichever fits best with your board

Printed it myself with 8% infill to save some filament and time.

In theory you could expand the board infinitely so you could print a 12x12 board or even bigger.

Future ideas:

  • Create sides with coordinates
  • Make LEGO-compatible pins so that the board can be thinner and save filament
  • Create a stand to make multidimensional chess
