Thanks to MaxTechResearch for their ingenious design! I just took their idea and remodeled it for use with Harbor Freight's ceramic magnet pack.
Different versions made for 1/8"(3mm) and 1/16"(1.5mm) material.
The Harbor Freight Magnets are around $2 per pack: https://www.harborfreight.com/home/toys-hobbies/magnets/ceramic-magnet-assortment-16-pc-58066.html
These are designed for the round ceramic magnets with Diameters of 18mm and 25mm. They are 6.5mm tall so the laser head should be able to move above them freely without hitting anything. For example, my laser is set to be 6mm above the material. These go 3.5 mm above the material so there's 2.5mm of clearance between the holder and the laser head.
I just used super glue to attach the magnets and they've been holding fine.
No Supports needed.
