Summary

Lanterns: The Harvest Festival. Such a lovely and elegant game. Such a lack of organization inside. No yang to the yin, guys.

All the components of the game are more useful outside of the box where players can reach them during the game, than in, so it seemed a good idea to break them out into individual parts trays or shoes that could be spread around the table as pleased the participants.

tejawood was on the right track with the excellent Lanterns - The Harvest Festival box organizer design.

I have borrowed heavily from the aesthetic, but ultimately built this from the ground up.

Two things I required were that the trays/shoes weren't free to move around the box, and that the components were kept in place by the lid. That is facilitated by a baseplate with a well for each tray/shoe that holds them in place and also subsequently raises each tray to be level with the top edge of the box.

I'm including two versions of this model:

Split versions (as necessary) with multiple pieces for smaller format printers. For the baseplate you'll want to print 2 of the rear extensions and 10 of the little square plank splices (11, if you're like me and prone to dropping one irretrievably into the black hole that is the back of my printing table). For the dedications shoe print 1 of its bottom splices, for the tile shoe print 1 of its bottom splices and 2 of its side splices... these are meant to bridge the gap and reinforce where the two halves meet. For both the dedications and tile shoes you'll want to use supports just touching buildplate). A bit of 5-minute epoxy will make the multiple parts as one, and in the case of the dedications shoe there is lots of mating surface area to get some glue on, just be careful of squeeze-out. It is also advisable to very lightly sand all the mating faces being glued together, especially if you are prone to getting the dreaded elephant's foot.
Whole versions that can be printed as single pieces for larger format printers.

This passes my test for storage, which simply involves packing the box then giving it a good shake while turning it in all directions. Everything stayed in place.
