Summary

Adapter to connect HK G36 or other compatible Midcap AEG magazines to an Odin (or a clone) winding speedloader. Mag latch to prevent mags from falling out when you're done, and a stop ball to keep BB's from spilling out (it'll still drop ~2 balls, but that's better than 15!)

Parts Needed:

1x M3x20 Socket Head Cap Screw

2x 1" Long, 0.24" OD, 0.2" ID Compression Springs (Ex. McMaster 1986K365 or 9657K298)

2x 6mm Airsoft BB's

Assembly Instructions:

1: Insert a 6mm BB into the hole on the narrow side of the adapter furthest from the BB feed path, behind where the magazine lock goes. This is your stop ball, it will protrude into the BB feed path slightly when a spring is behind it.

2: Follow up with one of the springs, then another BB.

3: Insert a suitably long tool to drive the BB/Spring/BB down until the BB in the back clears the screw hole in the long side of the adapter - you'll see the BB pass by.

4: Drive in the M3x20 screw until it touches your tool, and make sure the BB is ahead of it. This keeps the screw away from your spring. Remove the tool and continue driving the screw until hand tight.

5: Insert another spring into the same hole, against the screw.

6: Insert the magazine latch with the large nub towards the Odin side of the adapter, then drive in the M3x30 screw from the side pocket, being sure that you pass the screw through the hole in the latch without clipping it. This needs to pivot freely!

As a note, if you don't like the magazine retention force, you can use springs with smaller ID's (thus higher wire gauges) for more force. I find that the springs listed are enough to keep the magazine from falling out, and that's really what I was after.

Do not use stronger springs in the stop ball hole. Too much force will make loading unpleasant.

For printing, print the adapter as-imported. Use tree/organic supports and set the angle threshold for 75 Degrees. This minimizes the number of supports needed, as the model is optimized to keep overhangs to an absolute minimum. The lock arm will need to be flipped upside down as the anti-rotation tab faces the bed on export.
