I made this to make it easier to filter a quart of cold brew coffee all at once. The bottom fits into the top of a wide mouth mason jar, and has a groove for a rubber band holding a coffee filter over the bottom. Could be used for any large quantity filtering: secure a filter over the bottom opening with a rubber band or large twist-tie, pour a quart into the top, and then go do something else while it slowly trickles through the filter. Set it and forget it!
I use the Rumble Jar stainless steel cold brew maker, but the stainless steel sieve doesn't filter out all the grounds, so you still must pass it through a coffee filter. The Rumble Jar came with a filter bag to place around the grounds, but I'd rather just use a coffee filter. This would otherwise take a very long time using a standard 1 cup coffee filter. I needed a funnel that could hold a quart and only let it out through a filter at the bottom.
