Summary

20 inch Steelix flexible pokemon. It's split into 9 segments for easier printing. I also added a split head. It printed much easier for me in two parts than in one.

Some parts will need support so arrange as needed. I used the auto orientation add on in cura which helped a lot.

My son wanted a steelix pokemon for his birthday to accompany the onix he got for his last birthday (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:322851)

There is a 5mm hole ran through each segment. I use 22 gauge wire.(Edit: Thanks to yeetlord99's suggestion, TPU works very well for this and is my new preferred method)

I run it from the head to the tail, then loop back through the tail and pass through the segments again to the head where it gets tied off. The knot should keep it held together. and there is a bit of a recessed hole for the knot to stay flush with the head.

If you tie it too tightly you won't have a lot of flexibility.

Feel free to ask questions, I may do an instructional video if needed.

The onix in the picture is for reference of scale and is from iwannarox's thing that is linked above.

update: added picture of my print. It's not painted yet, and you can see where I glued and sanded the head together. But gives you an idea of the finished product.

update: added picture of it spray painted with metallic silver paint.

update: added picture of painted eyes and teeth. Think I can finally say it's finished.
