I needed a simple latch that could be engaged from both outside and inside a chicken run door. In my case the run is large and has 2 doors on opposite sides. Now with the latch I can enter one door and leave out the other without pre-unlatching both doors.
I figure this could also be useful for other gate or garden doors, wherever you just need to drill a hold in a wood panel and have it pass through. Consider scaling it up for anything that's meant to keep out/in something larger than a cat as the threaded section has broken a couple times until I printed the threaded part of the bolt piece at 100% infill. Also not sure I would trust the latch arms to hold up against a person or dog pushing against it at it's current scale.
This is still a work in progress as I'd like it have a more secure latch. You can see I still have the old metal latches as backups. An animal climbing up the outside could purposely or accidentally lift up the main bar of the latch. I'll probably just add a spring to the door in case that happens just to keep it from swinging open.
