Pisara, a plywood basket for firewood logs, for sauna or other indoors fireplace, height 52 cm, width 37 cm, depth 28 cm. Designed by Olli Niemitalo and Outi Lampela in Finland and released under the Creative Commons Attribution license.
Materials and tools required:
- 4 mm 3-ply birch plywood without too many knots, no surface treatment, 960 mm x 560 mm, with top and bottom grain oriented parallel to the shorter side. Better add a few cm safety margin to the given dimensions but make sure the piece fits your printer.
- Wood glue, polyvinyl acetate (PVA).
- 32 mm (or 30 mm) natural fiber tape (cotton, linen etc.), strong, 3 m.
- Sisal string or similar, approx 50 g, 13 m. It must be thin enough to go through a 5 mm diameter hole in the plywood. If you choose a soft variety the handle will feel nicer.
- Heavy duty cotton string for embroidery (light green is a nice color). You won't need much, 1 m is plenty.
- Heavy duty needle for embroidery. Must go through a 3 mm diameter hole in the plywood.
