Tieing plane parts is a funny idea that can be used when creating a three dimensional shape, like this bowl. While making and shipping the single parts can be nested closely thus resulting in a material effective design. When the cord has a nice color it can contrast quite nice to the wood. Other than on the Candybowl I stained the birch plywood.
My build was done from 6,5 mm stained birch plywood using a desktop cnc-machine by Stepcraft. The cord is a 4 mm 'paracord' I got from Opitec.
