Summary

Originally a port on the northern coast used to ship out ores and lumber, Hrímsalir was subject to fierce fighting during the rebellion, reducing much of it to shattered ruins. Seeing that there was no other chance to defend their home, eventually the defenders sabotaged the ancient geothermal reactor, causing warriors from both sides to freeze to death with the onset of winter.

Build as grand or as ruined as you like with the Hrímsalir set! Many, MANY pieces available!

Normally when I make a terrain set, each piece gets its own entry, but this time I thought I would put everything in one place. The set is based on a 5 cm floor grid, using columns to join together walls of various lengths and heights. With a couple of exceptions, one column + one wall is either 10 or 15 cm long and the floors either 64 mm (2 1/2") or 96 mm (3 3/4") high. The lower wall height matches the New Clear Zone and Stygian Undercroft sets. Some parts are designed to fit with earlier designs (ex: one of the wall pieces allows you to connect my walkways).

You can either leave all pieces separate for maximum flexibility, glue each building permanently toghether, or, like me, glue each level to the floor above it. This makes the set both easy to set up and easy to store.

For the floors I have gone with a puzzle-piece pattern to limit how many different pieces I'd need to create, which has some advantages but also some disadvantages. The walls are either two or three layers thick. For the three-layer walls, typically the engraved details go on the inner side, though some have it on both sides (ex: parts with doors). There is an illustration showing how to assemble the columns and hopefully that is enough. I believe that all parts can be mirrored. Let me know if you can't figure out what a piece is for!

There are many, many different pieces in the set, but still infinitely more variants I could have added. Feel free to create your own pieces, particularly if you are making some very elaborate structures.
