This is HEW-DV4 (design version 4) a robot arm designed for desktop use created from scratch. The idea behind it was to designed and build a friendly, easy to use robot arm so that hobbyist, makers and education alike can have fun building or simply using a ready out of the box robot arm. His reach and repeatability make him quite useful for most hobby uses.
After finishing university in 2011, I found that the current day robot arms for hobby use where too expensive and lacked a lot of features and had poor quality/specifications, So I designed my own.
With this design the flat file (ready for laser cutting in mm dimensions) you can simply laser cut all the parts from 3mm acrylic and be ready to go in no time! I've included the full BOM list (Bill of Materials) as well as the assembly instructions, so any one can find the parts required to make your own.
I finally want to give HEW to everyone without any price tag as I closed my 1-man startup down in 2017.
