Derived from my Organic Chess set design, I love the absurdity of a chess piece that is both black and white at the same time. But as I anticipated, I have found this object to be a technical challenge to print. So far I have attempted to print using a M3D Quad printer with marginal results and with my now modified rig incorporating a Diamond Hotend.
Both of these rigs suffer from the color blending issue known as the toothpaste effect. The result is the head comes out darker on the side being fed black filament. I have recently been attempting to use clear filament to reduce the amount of black but have not yet achieved truly satisfying results.
So I am publishing this as a torture test anticipating that other multi color rigs may be better able to achieve the color separation needed for clear black and white.
Update 2/1/2020 uploaded new version that have been repaired so mesh together more accurately, thanks to Marko Klemenčič for editing the files.
I recommend printing at 200% scale.
If you have a multi color / multi material rig, please give this print a try. And please publish your results along with information about any special techniques you apply in the process. Good luck!
