Summary

I wanted a simple, manual, belt-driven, adjustable-height table for my Chinese K40 Laser.

Combine the printed parts with parts from your local hardware store, and you can make this pretty easily.

External Parts Required:

1 - 4' x 5/16" threaded rod (2' length works if you can find it)
12 - 5/16" nuts
1 - 4' x 1/2" Aluminum Solid Angle
Super (CA) glue
Expanded mesh for table/platform (can be substituted)

You'll need to print 4 of the base corners. These are connected by the 1/2" aluminum angle. To fit in the K40, you'll need 2 pieces that are 12" long (or less), and 2 pieces that are 10" long (or less). Super glue the aluminum angle to the corner pieces to create the base.

Cut the threaded rod into 4" pieces for the corners. Install 2 nuts on the bottom of each bolt so that it fits into each corner base. Add a drop of super glue for stability (not required).

Print 4 of the hubs and install a nut in each with super glue. Once dry, they will thread onto each corner. Add a T5 belt (6mm width, 5mm pitch) and the hubs will turn together. As you can see from the photo, I am using expanded mesh for my platform.

To adjust the height, use the height adjuster tool to turn one of the hubs. Note that the hole in your platform (in my case the mesh) on at least one of the hubs needs to be big enough to accommodate the width of the adjuster tool. As you screw the hub down, the threaded rod will ride in the middle of the adjuster. Note that the length of the adjuster tool can be cut down to suit. The mesh just rides on top of the hubs as they move up and down.

To install in the K40, the platform needs to be almost all the way down so you can insert it and clear the exhaust port. Once it's installed, adjust up to your required height.

I'm waiting on my belt to arrive, so I haven't tried it with the belt yet. I will update with a video once that arrives and I have it all working.
