I have bought a Xiaomi Redmi Pad Pro including the original flip cover.
The front cover has three segements and when you flip it backwards to hold it like a book for reading, it hangs down beside the fingers.
The (cheaper) one for Xiaomi Pad 5 will stick by magnets on the back cover.
Firstly I bought nearly all available covers available on Amazon, all with same weakness, so I returned all.
I found, that there's a cavity inside the cover, that is used for pen holder, which is installed by default. Removing this, gibes a 1,4mm deep cavity, that is quite big, it si just opposite to magnet in front cover to switch screen on and off.
So I designed this part and used 6x1mm magnets (Amazon B0CP3PX9TH) to hold the cover.
This works just as for Tab 5, front cover sticks perfectly to back cover when opened.
Magnets need to be pressed in with a piece of wood or something, it fits firmly on the pen holder.
On the picture you see my first shot that immediately worked immediately, out of the experience I reworked it a little bit, no need for magnets on the outside as there's no magnetic counterpart and optimized dimensions.
