Summary

Why this exists:

I've been using an XBOX controller for my Android phone for ages, especially to play XBOX games remotely. During this process, I needed a quick way to clamp my phone to my controller. And all of the phone clamps I could find on here were incomplete, and required assembling multiple prints together - some of which weren't working. And truth be told, you actually don't ever really need to open and close a phone mount. So why not make it rigid?

I designed this to use a single STL file in two parts. You'll need an elastic to keep the pressure applied.

Clamp size:

Slim:
Fits my Pixel 1,2,3, and 4. Should be able to accommodate most cell phones up-to 3.5 inches wide comfortably.

Wide:
Fits my S20 Ultra quite nicely.

Note: Version v6 is an in-between simple version that is a safe go-to if you aren't sure what version to use.

Print notes:

v6 has the least amount of overhangs and bridging and is the safest middle ground print model to use. I've moved onto versions v11 and v12, as they handle bigger phones better with more features. But in the event of issues, v6 is the most simple.

Version History

Update v5: 2021-07-19

The new version is the one I currently use on my device. It has a cutout for the Xbox logo, tighter fit for the controller, better slide adjustments, and a notch that helps prevent the reset button from getting tripped by the phone. And it is a slimmer print. I strongly recommend this one.

Update v6: 2021-08-13

I made it a little bit longer for bigger phones, pushed back the elastic holder a little bit so it is easier to get a big elastic in there. And tightened the bottom of the print which wasn't printing flat in some cases

Update v10: 2021-12-07

I got a new phone (yay) BUT my new phone is very thick and very large. That means, time for an update! The new version posted can handle a thicker phone and a larger phone. It has a better cut-out for handling the Xbox button. It has a good cutout on the back to prevent the pressing down on the pairing button. It has a cutout on the front for attaching a headset to your controller. It is a much tighter fit (less likely to slide). And I also added upper and lower phone groves, to prevent pressing of volume buttons. The new version has some slight adjustments for support structures. Altogether, it is a much better quality holder for a controller.

Update v13: 2021-12-15

I've added two versions now - a new wide & slim version --- the slim version holds smaller phones (i.e. Nexus, Pixel 2 etc) and the wide version holds thicker larger phones (i.e. S20 Ultra). If you aren't sure, you probably want the slim version.

I've added "teeth" to the elastic holder, so it doesn't need to wrap around the entire connector anymore.

I've reduced some of the back part so that the clamp can pop on and off easier. The logo on the inside is there for a few reasons, to thin out the bottom to make it pop on and off easier, because I want it on my clamp, and to make an extra step for people selling this at a huge markup online :)

IF you don't want a logo, just print version #6 - it fits looser so it doesn't need the cutout.
