Summary

The cable retainer lock on the ethernet jack of my Xbox One X broke off. Upon inspection, the RJ45 jack on this console is soldered in and after an hour of searching for the replacement part, it was only available through donor motherboards. I found one company that sells the part but it too is removed from donor motherboards for $20. (If you're interested it can be found here: https://www.consolefix.shop/products/replacement-ethernet-port-for-xbox-one-x-motherboard?_pos=9&_sid=dd3e3de1e&_ss=r)

I took some measurements and realized there is a gap in between the RJ45 jack and the back panel of the console so I created this drop in RJ45 retainer. The console needs to be torn down 90% where the motherboard is removable from the bottom case in order to install this part. The cooler/heatsink can be left on the motherboard. (Teardown guide: https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Xbox+One+X+Teardown/99609?srsltid=AfmBOorKMdZjz2B0qF5W-Ao2L9DtsZt6oaXAJGYe98opw-iSa1U97VXF)

Once the motherboard is removed, add the retainer to the console's back plate. Then slot in the motherboard and test the RJ45 jack with an ethernet cable. If the cable clips in and can be removed by depressing the locking clip on the cable, then the console can be re-assembled with a working ethernet port again!

If the cable pushes in and the cable's retaining clip is pushed down, but the cable pulls out with no effort then double check the part is installed flush to the backplate.
