Caution: At the time of this posting, I have used this mount at depth of 60 feet. So far... so good. Use at your own risk!
This is a flashlight mount that allows a Wurkkos DL02 Dive Light to be mounted below a Sea Life SportDiver Smart Phone/Camera Dive Housing.
The Sea Life lights made for the Sport Diver are very nice but, they are also expensive and more than what I typically require at this time in my diving adventures. I usually have a dive light on me anyways so I designed this mount to allow my handheld light to be used for double duty if needed. Its not ideal for wide panoramic shots but, it should be good enough for pictures taken at close 'ish range of specific points of interest.
I have found that standard camera tri-pod mounting hardware uses 1/4-20 threaded holes. I purchased stainless steel 1/4-20 x 2.5" Thumb Screws and #12 stainless washers on Amazon but, then changed the design to be thinner so that 2.25" would be more appropriate. The spacers are in case a longer bolt is used (like the ones I had already purchased). A longer thumb screw might be easier to manipulate with gloves. Of course, you can always just cut off and grind the bolts too but, remember to maintain the threads. Additionally I used a couple of lock washers to make sure nothing will fall off when I'm not looking,
I printed these at 90% infill with carbon-fiber reinforced PLA. I also used thicker walls, top and bottom than I normally do. This "should" be adequate at normal (non-technical) recreational depths (<150ft). (fingers crossed)
I also included the DL02 model I created to help cut the silhouette.
