Summary

FDS GAMING TECH PRESENTS:
WTF in Crypt Crawl
Featuring Skeletons!
I know, you're asking WTF?! The answer is easy: You take on the role of an adventuring party. A Wizard, Thief, and Fighter, to be specific.
These adventurers use Fireballs, Daggers and Shields to overcome challenging encounters.

A wizard, thief and fighter slowly climb down a gray stairwell that descends into a dark and musty crypt. From below they can hear the distinct rattle of withered bones.

FIRST EDITION FUN!
--6 different dungeon tiles

  • a stairwell to begin and end the adventure
  • a four doorway room for those multiple-choice moments
  • a three doorway room for when you're faced with a left or right decision
  • two variants of a two doorway room:
    one with doors opposite each other for when the path leads straight ahead
    one with doors at a 90-degree angle from each other for when the path turns
  • a single doorway room to keep the intrigue alive, who knows what might be inside!
    --Doorway connectors that help keep your dungeon's shape
    --Mini skull encounter tokens
    --Skully-skull game choice coins (made by combining the Skully-skull outer game choice coin with the FDS inner coins of Fireball, Dagger, Shield)

HOW TO PLAY:
--Set up--

  1. Design or randomize a dungeon crypt using two stairwells and at least one other tile (you can use as many tiles as you want).
  2. Create or randomize encounters throughout the dungeon crypt.
  3. Choose stairwells for the entrance and exit of each dungeon.

WTF CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
-Wizard: Life starts at 6; deals double damage with a Fireball win
-Thief: Life starts at 8; deals double damage with a Dagger win
-Fighter: Life starts at 10; deals double damage with a Shield win

COMBAT AND ENCOUNTER RESOLUTION
Consider the age-old Rock, Paper, Scissors game applied below:

Fireball = Fireball
Fireball > Dagger
Fireball < Shield

Dagger < Fireball
Dagger = Dagger
Dagger > Shield

Shield > Fireball
Shield < Dagger
Shield = Shield

Use the assembled Skully-skull choice coins, some dice or even your hands to determine the outcome of encounters.

Resolving encounters for a single player:
First choose Fireball, Dagger or Shield for your adventurer (no cheating! Make your choice before the skeletons roll), then roll a D6 to randomize the encounter's choice.
D6 results: 1-2 = Fireball 3-4 = Dagger 5-6 = Shield

After wandering through several empty rooms, the adventurers come upon the first gang of skeletons! The wizard conjures a fireball and in short order, two skeletons are reduced to ash. The thief dispatches two more with their trusty dagger and the fighter charges toward the skeletons with shield raised, smashing the final pair to bits.
"Fireball, Dagger and Shield FOR THE WIN!" exclaims the trio, surveying the damage.
