Summary

A Semiauto plant waterer for watering plants.
It uses a wirtz pump to move water along 2mm diameter pipes (this might change) to a plant pot. I use this to pump water to pots that are too high to reach.

I may need to alter the diameter of the wheel tube as too small diameters results in a very high surface tension stopping water intake and too big diameters results in bubbling between the airlocks which reduces pressure.

A centrifugal pump would be more efficient but I have been reading up on these pumps and felt it would be fun to print.

It uses this PWM controller to control this motor and connects to the wheel using these flange coupling connectors.

As of 09/07/2024, I have decided that this current model wont work as the wirtz pump wont be big enough to go to the height I need it to go to.

HOWEVER

Expect updates soon (probably using a centrifugal pump instead)

13/01/2023 V1.1: Adjusted wheel for a flange coupling connector rather than a rod. This should allow the wheel to be printed easier and will be stronger than the rod idea. The mounts and hole for the electric motor were also adjusted as I couldn't find the entire schematic online. I've manually measured these to get the dimensions. Also Ive added chamfers to the PWM board mount to make them stronger and less likely to break off.

22/01/2024 V1.2: I changed the water wheel to improve its performance by not letting the spiral go all the way into the middle as for large differences in circumference between the inner and outer rings can lead to spilling and bubbling which causes pressure loss. I also added a decal so you know which way the wheel should be spinning.

03/02/2024 V2: Changed the wheel to be 2 separate parts and will use a standard 4mm bowden tube instead of a 3 printed spiral. Im hoping this will make diagnostic easier as a clear bowden tube will allow to see how the airlocks are forming in the spiral.

04/02/2024 V2.1: Adjusted the bowden wheel side to hold the bowden tube rather than being placed on top. I was hoping the bowden tube would stay in a spiral shape but this didnt work as expected. I also adjusted the holes for the flange coupling connectors holes from 15.5mm to 17mm apart.
