The file 'Wireless LED Building Blocks 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 367.6KB.
This project began as an effort to design and build a wireless lighting system for my daughter’s antique dolls' house, where drilling holes for wiring would have been undesirable. However, given her growing interest in Lego, the project evolved into the creation of a Lego-compatible build platform.
Initially intended just for her, the design quickly attracted attention, leading to commissions for similar platforms for my niece and two other children.
The system is controlled via a capacitive touch sensor on the front, making it easy to turn on and off, which, well, I like :)
There's a small video of some of the process of making them on Instagram.
Since the brightness of LEDs is proportional to the field strength of the coil and the direction of the field lines (doesn't matter which way up the LEDs are, but across the field give no brightness), this even ended up being taken into work for use demonstrating interactively, the falloff of the magnetic field from a coil.
