The file 'Wingspan Insert V2 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 582.7KB.
Update, 2022-11-18 - I have a copy of the Nesting Box, and I can say definitively that my upgraded bits don’t work at all with the plastic inserts that came with it. I will be doing up a new insert design in the next little bit to organize it better, using my upgraded bits
This is my custom board game insert for the game Wingspan, with space for the European Expansion, Oceania Expansion, and the Quick start pack. You may also include the upgraded Player Goal board, I have provided STLs for it. I'm always welcome to constructive criticism, or suggestions for improvement. Feel free to comment!
The first thing to note is that this insert will NOT hold all of the components from Wingspan! I had to remove some things in order to make it all fit, so the dice tower, score sheet pads, and the solo variant cards are not included in this design! I also could not find a way to make it work with sleeved cards, or with the card display that was remixed from my original design. To make this work, it is recommended you have a scoring app on your phone, or laminate some score sheets from the two expansions to keep in the box. The Dollar Store offers cheap, self laminating sheets for $1
What I did include with this design is my own set of bird houses (to replace the player markers), and resource bits. The resource bits are identical in size to the GeekUp bits available at the Board Game Geek store, so this will fit the GeekUp bits. The player boxes should also fit any of the other bird house designs that are available as well. I took the new design as an opportunity to try something that wasn't just boxes
The one thing I did keep from my original design is the awesome Owl marker from Kandyhouse, found at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3442331. I am not at the point where I can design something better than this :)
The STLs include two sets of parts. The A - Goal Board STLs are for someone who has the upgraded Goal board (as seen in my pictures). The B - No Goal Board works without the upgraded board. The difference between the two is the bit boxes under the player boards are 3mm shorter in the A set, and there is an inset in the card boxes to accomodate the new goal board in the A set. All of the rule books, quick start references, laminated score sheets and original goal board fit above the player boards (and goal board)
For printing, follow along with the screenshot I have posted in the pictures. It will tell you how many of each STL to print, along with approx cost and time.
