Summary

Remote mounted WIFI runout sensor from rwmech! This is for use with Octoprint only.

I designed a different case to be mounted directly to a PrintDry Pro machine, using the hole in the side. I went with 3/8-24 for the thread size, because I already had that die.

I print very large things. On my TronXY VEHO 600 the runout sensor is right next to the extruder. So if it runs out on a long GCODE run, it ends up missing extrusions. Now the runout is mounted closer to the filament. No more problems!

Parts Needed:
1PCS Main case print
1PCS Lid case print
2PCS M2.5x12 button head screw
2PCS M2.5 Nut
2PCS M3x6 cap head to button head screw
2PCS M3 brass insert
1PCS M6 brass insert
1PCS M6 thread push to lock tubing for 4mm PTFE tube (tube MUST pass though)
2PCS Short prices of 4mm PTFE tubing
1PCS WeMos style ESP8266 Board
1PCS Roller type microswitch
2PCS small wire
2PCS 3/8-24 fine thread JAM NUT
1PCS 3/8-24 die to clean the treads.
1PCS Small zip tie

Print the main case with supports for the threads and openings. Clean the threads with the die to use the jam nuts.

Program the ESP8266 with Arduino IDE, using the code from Here. You will need to set up the code for use with your Octoprint setup. See the video here on how this works

Do not tighten the jam nuts against the PrintDry plastic. Use the jam nuts to tighten against each other. Do not over-tighten!! The jam nuts are just meant to keep the case from falling out.

Make sure the PTFE tubing does not interfere with the operation of the micro roller switch! For the tubing on the inside of the PrintDry, put a small zip tie on the tube to keep it from being dragged into the case and hitting the switch.

So far this has worked great for me....

Your mileage may vary!
