This is a turbine driven sprinkler. It got it's start as a way to test 3D printed impulse turbines, but I think it's great on it's own. The turbine is inspired by bucket wheel turbine designs that pre-dated the Pelton turbine and captures far more power than needed from a 1.3mm jet. The turbine spins at over 3000rpm and makes a hi-tech whirring sound. The turbine drives a 64 to 1 worm gear transmission to spin the deflector on the 3mm main jet. The main jet will cover a 6-9 meter radius.
Due to the size of the main jet, this sprinkler needs a solid base or stake. The clamp on stake holder is sized for one half of a 3/4" (19mm) wooden dowel rod and uses a 20mm M3 screw and nut for clamping force.
Also included in the files is a .STEP of the GHT thread and the turbine wheel. These should make it easier to re-use these parts in your own designs.
Version 1.1:
"Redirector 4.stl" is a new redirector with a uniform spray pattern.
"Redirector 3.stl" Has an extra long range, but only waters at long range. Probably the most fun for kids. Also shows how to make a leak free "seal" around a high speed jet of water.
