Mounting tabs broke off on my V2 Wahoo Elmnt roam.
I decided to make a new back cover with new mounting tabs.
New back cover has a bigger surface area and is better then just gluing the circular mount (dogears) at the back.
Back cover of the Roam has to be flattened and roughened a bit so epoxy or super glue would stick.
This is printed in PETG. Initially I used Bison Metal dual Epoxy but Simple Green Universal Loctite Super Bond proved to do the trick and has MUCH better adhesion.
Before doing any work on the Wahoo, I suggest to cover the sides with standard masking tape.
IF using Super Glue, make sure you DO NOT put it everywhere, just few small dots strategically here and there and very good dotty amount under the main mount in the middle, but again dotty approach.
Again Do NOT put a big blob of glue, to cover the wider surface put the glue in small dots all around, so you could remove it the next time if it breaks, or you want to replace it with different color or any other reason.
If using Epoxy, you can cover the entire back plate, make sure that you put a very thin layer of epoxy, and keep the existing holes at the bottom of the Wahoo clear.
When you remove the central mount, Center of the Wahoo you fill in with epoxy resin you will later glue the new back plate on that.
I used the small Dremel electric tool to remove the extra plastic.
***When printed, the first layer should have a rough patch in the center just under the main mount for better glue adhesion, do not lower it in slicer to remove it.
