This part was designed to replace the original fluorescent tubes in the T3/Vanagon Westfalia lamps. It is used to accommodate a 15 mm wide, 2 mm thick, and 300 mm long anodized aluminum profile on which a 12V LED strip can be glued. The threads are created by using threaded inserts (M2 and M3). The aluminum profile with the LED strips is clamped from below using an M2x12 screw. The entire assembly is then secured through the original holes in the lamp housing using M3x5 screws and washers.
Additionally, I replaced the original switch with a two-way switch and added a second LED strip with a dimmer board attached. This allows the light to be used at full brightness or dimmed, with very simple wiring, maintaining the original look and using only off-the-shelf parts.
