Had to change the inner CV joint on my 1995 Volvo 960 with Multilink mk2 but to my suprise there is no CV joints available. Then i searched for CV Boots but no there is none in the world available and hasnt been for many years they say at Volvo.
Universal boots cannot be fitted as theres a groove where the original locks onto the joint, a "flat" standard boot would just slip off or get cut.
So thats when a quest started to get a alternative CV Boot with a used joint.
Heres what i came up with.
As the original CV Joint has a big round "lip" about 4mm in diameter so i designed this piece to snap on in its groove to make a new surface in bigger diameter for a standard automotive boot to fit onto. Fill gap in adapterring with sikaflex/gasket goo or anything else that seals the gap.
So a boot with aprox. these measurements will fit
CV joint end 72mm
70-90mm length
28mm for 3.0 engine driveshaft diameter or 25mm? for the 2.5 engine driveshafts
(not sure if the 3d print fits 2.5 driveshaft cv joints but it should)
Inner and Outer joints uses same boots so this adapter fits inner and outer joint!
For cv joint boots for 28mm shafts as a coincidence the inner Turbo Manual gearbox Volvo 850, S70mk1 and V70mk1 ones fit perfectly but 20mm longer than 960 mk2 but should fit neatly.
Part numbers for 28mm driveshafts + my adapter.
