The ASSW 28 is a fantastic RC aircraft to learn both flying skills powered or soaring flight. Constructed of a plastic shell body and foam wings, it is a rugged flyer. But all who fly RC know it is not a matter of if you will crash, it is a matter of when. The wings and battery tray take most of the brunt of hard landings. Even normal operation taxes the battery tray having to absorb the forces of landings as well as constant battery changes. They occasionally break. Yes, you can buy replacements, but if you are on this builder's site, your are looking for a different solution.
I have duplicated the battery tray offering a solution that can be 3D printed or inserted into a CAM app that produces CNC G-code (< 3mm diameter tool and cut depth of 3 mm). Either method will produce a worthy replacement. The mass of the original tray is approximately 22 grams. Judicious choice of filament or milling stock can bring your product in very close to that value.
