I replaced the hex bolts on the VNM shifter with these "flat" thumb screws and needed something to keep them from loosening. The flexible washers should give enough resistance to keep the screws from backing out from vibration while also making it easy enough to unscrew. They are tight to the threads, so they should stay with the screws when you swap between plates.
