The file 'Video Laryngoscope 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 1.1MB.
Obvious disclaimer: these prints are not meant in any way to supplant approved medical devices. Rather, they provide an extremely cost effective option in cases where there is no other safer alternative.
This remix was necessary since we found that the original design did not quite have the AliExpress "endoscope" camera (7mm) in the right position... it was pointed a bit too posteriorly and the lens needed to be placed back a bit because of a somewhat limited field of view when tested in our anesthesia simulation lab. The remix required a bit of encroachment onto the base of tongue part of the blade but it was a necessary compromise. Also, we needed a version that had more of a distal angulation for more anterior airways. It is similar in shape to the McGrath X-Blade although this version is a bit more angulated, more like the original GlideScope from 20+ years ago. Otherwise, the other unmodified blade angle matched our other videolaryngoscopic devices in the OR: KingVision, McGrath, C-Mac, GlideScope. It also matches the GlideScope titanium for blade angle but it would be interesting to see if it is possible to match the low profile of the titanium blade with a future remix.
The strength of the printed parts is excellent. The whole point of videolaryngoscopy is that you need minimal force or effort to obtain an adequate view. Nevertheless, even with full effort direct laryngoscopy there was no issue in the simulator lab. I have invited anyone to try and break any of the prints and no one has yet. It does flex a bit with pretty significant amounts of force.
The channel in the handle was modified for a cleaner print.
Took the labelling off for a cleaner/faster print.
The ergonomics of the handle are great.
Just limited the mods to the #3 blade since that accounts for 99% of my personal videolaryngoscopic use in adult anaesthesia.
Addendum: Had a request from our overseas users of the device for a pediatric version as they had demonstrated a specific pediatric case use but managed with the adult sized version. Therefore, two pediatric mods added specifically for a 5.5mm diameter and the two different lengths of the camera cylinder I got from aliexpress.
