Summary

This is a simple filament spool holder that I designed to store my filament in a large plastic bin. I like this design since I can group filament together, it is an efficient use of space, and it allows me to move four spools at a time rather than individually. I got inspiration from Go Kart tire carriers, they work the same way.

• Reduced tube diameter by 0.2mm to allow for more tolerance on cardboard spools
• Thinned the walls of the tube to save filament
• Reduced Handle length and rounded the edge to assist in loading spools
• Top cap thickness reduced by 4mm to save filament
• Base plate thickness reduced
• Base plate diameter increased from 90 to 100 mm

Print time reduced by 7%
Filament usage reduced by 15%. Total from 170g to 145g
Summary - Easier to load and unload spools, more efficient design

Handle Print Settings - 4 walls 30%+ infill
Support - Used on the main tubes and on the cap

--Patch Notes--

  • Full threaded, no glue design!
  • Top Cap now has no moving parts or tolerance concerns
  • Made a vented version for desiccant packets (holes, holes everywhere)
  • Total filament usage is down to ~ 132 G

Future Plans

  • I really like the handle top, I am going to make a threaded version of that cap for this new design
  • The threads on the top cap and tube should be reverse of each other. If you tighten the top cap excessively, the main tubes will unthread before the top cap.
