The file 'Velociraptor Utilitarian Lazy Kate For Drop Spindle Plying 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 31.3MB.
The 'Lazy Kate' is rack for supporting up to 3 drop spindles in a horizontal orientation during the plying process. It is designed to be easily disassembled and packed flat while providing a stable, sturdy feel while in use.
The entire assembly consists of a base, two sides (one with open top slots and one with holes to allow a drop spindle to be slid into place while the lazy kate is assembled), and a stabilizing cross bar. The base and cross bar are each 250mm wide, if your printer has adequate space, these can be printed in one piece using the "whole" models. For smaller printers, each of these parts are provided in two pieces with tongue-in-groove like mating features. These features are intentionally made to have a snug fit so it should be possible to use the lazy kate with these pieces press fit, however, it can also be assembled with some superglue or epoxy to join the pieces more permanently. All the other joints (sides to the base and cross bar) are designed to be snug, but with enough play to allow the lazy kate to be assembled and disassembled without too much difficulty. Note that the holes/slots on the sides are oversized by a few millimeters to allow some wear protection such as felt to be added, but this is entirely optional.
