Valve Index headset tightening knob.
Even before I got my Index I knew I needed to design and print this.
The OEM knob snaps off and this snaps on.
I did a lot of trial and error with sizing and found this works the best for me. However, I'd highly recommend printing just the attachment end to quickly size it according to your printer specs. I would only adjust your scaling by .03 to get it just right.
Even with it snapping on, I find it does remove easily when pulled to the side.
But even with that, adjusting the headset is easier with this larger knob.
Maybe this will inspire you to make a better fitting one!
After printing I smoothed with XTC-3D and painted the top part red. I also added black wash for a more gritty feel.
I'm also uploading a replacement knob that snaps on pretty tight. Again, test print and scale accordingly.
UPDATE - After going through 2 of these, I've found that PLA just isn't strong enough in the more delicate parts to stand up to inevitable drops and bangs of the headset. I'd highly recommend a stronger plastic.
