V3(Ron's Ready To Go RC Remix)
After much waiting... I know some of you have had your wings done for some time. :) The full plane is now available for purchase at Cults3d.com! We have worked very hard trying to make sure everything prints and fits perfectly for you guys, I hope you enjoy this awesome Warbird. Please follow the link below:
https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/gadget/hellcat-1000mm-v3-rc-ready-complete-release
I have uploaded a copy of the instructions here if you would like to check out the print settings and orientations. Happy building. :)
1/7/2022: So... As you guys probably know, the first variant of this plane was made from scanning plans and the original balsa pieces then carved to fit in a full 3d representation of the kit, using only tinkercad.com. However, there are indeed many flaws with this original design and process, tinkercad has a tendency to leave small gaps and unwanted artifacts in the final .stl exports, also the curved line ability in tinkercad is very limited and results in split stringers, spars and also rough edges. This is not ideal for the covering process. This new variant is going to take care of a lot of the surface issues with this plane and so much more...
This project has now transformed into a collaborative effort between RonStG and myself. Ron is armed with much more powerful design software than myself and has the experience and capability to really address some of these key issues with the first frames.
What to expect: Overall easy to cover cleaner contours, connected stringers and spars, plotted easy to maintenance electronic cutouts with screw on covers, mechanical connections between key stress points (where before there was only glue), major weight reduction, and even a way to detach the wing for transport. He has spent a lot of his own time cleaning this frame up for you guys, to ensure that you have the absolute best experience with this Warbird.. I believe it deserves a great deal of appreciation from the community, especially if we end up posting this for free. So please leave him a like, a follow, a thanks in the comments, or even a tip.
When Ron showed me some of his early modifications to this plane my mind was blown at just how much he could really improve this thing, and I believe every one here looking will agree when we start launching these early prototypes. As for now, we are currently working on printing these prototypes ourselves, ensuring everything goes smoothly off the print bed in actual physical test fittings. We will be posting pictures here to keep you guys updated on the progress of the project and the new design. We are very close to releasing a prototype wing for you guys to start on, and it should be posted here relatively soon, so keep an eye out for that and as always... Happy building. :)
1/8/2022: I've got a video link here that you guys might want to check out below, this was uploaded by Ron to demonstrate the new prototype aileron setup. It's really cool, will give you an idea of whats going on there. She's really gonna roll! :P

1/9/2022: I just added some photos and the part breakdown of the current prototype wing, showing off it's nice clean surfaces and rolled edges. I will be doing a naked stress test of this wing before it's release, and will post the results here. I can already tell tho, just from how the pieces feel in hand... It's gonna be extremely strong, and to ensure this further I have also opted to weld the wing this time around using a 3D pen, making the seams almost non existent.
1/10/2022: V3 Flaps and ailerons now available for download and test printing, plead read the directions... and to preemptively answer the question: NO! THIS MODEL CAN NOT BE SCALED DOWN. Full wing on its way soon. Enjoy. :)
1/12/2022: So I have completed the NAKED stress test today, and the results are remarkable... At 4.3kg of load placed in center of wing, with the external wings held between 2 chairs. We are simulating the maximum load this aircraft should ever see in the air during high G-turns. It flexes just a mere 5mm... I also was able to load the wing with 8kg without anything breaking, but this info is irrelevant to flight beyond just being impressive. :) This is without a doubt, the strongest RC airplane wing I have ever tested. Just a few fitment and minor tweaks that are wrapping up currently. Like adding small gaps around the connection areas for easier welding so people don't have to use a razor blade to taper the former's in prep, as I had to. We have also added a clips version of the servo mounts and those should be up in the downloads by the end of the day. So... with that, We are very close to releasing this guy. Photo"s of this stress test have been added above. Happy building. :)
1/15/2022: There has been a "slight delay" in the release of the full wing assembly, there a few minor tweaks that we want to make after working with the initial prototypes. It is about 98% complete now, but these alterations will make a huge difference in the covering process, and easy removal of the central wing from the fuselage. For those of you following this project, thank you for your patience. :) We really want to get this thing 100% ready before release to give you guys the smoothest ride possible in building this wing.
1/17/2022: Today is the day! after much testing and tweaking we finally have a complete wing ready to release to the public. As with the Flaps and Ailerons the instructions for the wings that are included with the uploaded .zip file are very crucial to achieve the best possible results (a complete wing that weighs only 172 grams). Follow these directions closely and enjoy your new wing. :) Please let us know in the comments if you find any issues with this assembly.
To weld these sections together it is actually fairly straight forward. there are already spaces between the sections to make this easy and results in a very strong bond. Lay a piece of filament in that gap and smooth it out with a soldering iron, or you can use a 3d pen, if you have one. After getting it as smooth as you can with the soldering Iron, sand with light grit sand paper for final smooth finish. if done correctly, you shouldn't have to use any glue at all. Also, don't forget to put your carbon fiber rod or arrow shaft in before sealing the last seam, you wont get a second chance! Happy building! :P
Just a "heads up" note: The mating V3 fuselage for this wing is taking considerable amount of effort to perfect and it is looking great! However, that piece will not be featured here for free. We are now going into months of working hard to release this complete RC ready build and It will be launched on other sites for a small fee to help compensate us for our time, I hope you understand. Try the wing for free, see what you think, the Fuselage will be released in the weeks to come, so keep an eye out for that. I will continue to post the updates of our progress on this page. As always.. Enjoy :)
1/27/2022: I've added some sneak peeks of the new fuselage today. Most of the parts are displayed there in the layout in the photos above. I have also uploaded an exploded view form which should give you an idea of how the new body is constructed.
2/13/2022: The prototype fuse's are done, Ive added some new pictures of these and a few sneak peaks of a partially covered model which should be finished within the next couple days. I've opted to go with the tissue paper and paint covering method as its a lot easier then using Monokote as my ironing skills are not the greatest. The frame can take monokote and the heat from the iron, I have tested this method on a few pieces, I just seem to be getting better final finish results with the paper.
