The file 'V2 (version 2) PiFinder Shroud, Bezel And Unibody Frame (LH & RH Only) 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 348.6KB.
This project's goal was to achieve a framework and shroud redesign to an existing (and nicely designed) case and internal mounting framework for the *Version 2 (V2) PiFinder (https://www.pifinder.io), a highly accurate telescope positioning and target locator for astronomy purposes.
Several goals achieved by this redesign:
• simplification of the PiSugar battery installation.
• allows for printing of the sub-framework as a one piece unit (unibody)
• Incorporates an integrated OLED Bezel, designed initially as a standalone piece.
• Shroud can be printed as either a one piece (with integrated front bezel) or as a two piece (separate front bezel and shroud.)
• Currently only the Left-hand and Right-hand versions have been completed. Stay tuned for the 'Flat' version.
*Note: This project is based solely upon the version 2 (V2) PiFinder. It is possible that the V2.5 upgrade faceplate will work with this design, however, I do not have the V2.5 faceplate in hand to check.
This project also is designed around the inclusion of the PiSugar S and accompanying battery. If you are powering the PiFinder directly via USB-C and omitting the use of the PiSugar then you must add 2.5mm shims between the RPi board and the Unibody framework. This is because without the shims (and/or PiSugar) there will be a 2.5mm gap between the 'Hat' board and the outer Shroud.
