Happy Birthday Steve!
This is a remix of an original model of the USS Enterprise 1701-D from the Next Generation series. I found a few models of this vehicle on thingiverse but did not like how they were sectioned for FDM printing.
Sectioned the model for best appearance and least amount of effort regarding assembly and finishing.
Made custom print supports for the FWD saucer section. A file without my custom supports is also included. Be aware that some kind of support will be needed to print the fwd section.
Standard automatically generated supports can be used to print the aft section.
Modified the nacelles to have a deeper horizontal groove for improved printed appearance.
Assembly: Use 220 grit sandpaper to prepare the parts for bonding and to smooth any bumps. I used gorilla glue brand super glue to bond the nacelle tips, since they are small parts. I used 5 minute epoxy to bond the hull parts together for better coverage over a larger area and more working time vs super glue.
I hope you like this model and is easy for you to make!
