All future updates to this model will be posted here.

This adaptor is based off of the other universal microscope adaptors, which didn't use M3 bolts or have the ability to easily set the distance between the eyepiece and the camera. This is my complete redesign.

To celebrate making this design public, I have also added another version of the main body for longer phones, and side pieces without a solid wall to remedy the issue where on certain phones the clamp would press the side buttons of the device.

Hardware Needed

  • 3x M3 thumbwheels. I prefer this design by julianh72.
  • 4x 16mm M3 Bolts - 3 for the clamps and 1 for the height adjustment.
  • 3x M3 Nuts
  • 2x Small zipties
The current version can use long M3 bolts for the eyepiece clamp, or zip ties. I found that zipties work best as the entire adaptor may be quickly removed and re-fit snugly once the zipties have been tightened onto the eyepiece the first time.

Usage

Get a feel for the general position your phone should be in over the eyepiece by looking through it with your phone camera. Clamp it in this location and make adjustments from here. The height may be adjusted with the screw below the phone. Generally you only have to find this position once for all of your devices.

For the future:

A new version of the eyepiece clamp is also in progress to allow for shorter bolts.
