I've made a small adjustment by adding a spacer ring. This provides a little extra room to fit an LED strip inside.
I've added an ESP8266-12e with 1000mAh lipo. Its got a charging board, low voltage protection and a DC-DC voltage step up to get a constant 5v.
The ESP8266 is setup as a wifi access point, so you can connect to it to change the lighting modes / colours. The web interface was a little rushed so not particulary polished looking, but it works.
There is also a simple push button on the bottom to change modes.
With time more patterens could be added to create more UFO style lighting. Most of the patterens are directly from FastLED libraries.
