Summary

Some time ago I published my Thames river barge:

But what is a barge without a tugboat isn’t it? Fortunately, in the same book we found plans of the barge also lines and GA-plan of the tugboat Engadine were published. So here is the corresponding 3D-print model. For painting purpose, I made some more details as separate parts. Some a very delicate to handle. Especially the position lights I kept and painted attached to the support until the very last moment otherwise the posts would have been broken for sure.

The model contains some options:

Funnel may be long (steam engine) or short (diesel engine)
Wheelhouse top may be open, covered with tarpaulin or hard top
Hull and bulwark may be printed separately (for better painting or in one peace (the print in two pieces I would recommend only for larger scale like OO)
The entrance hatches are printed separately to paint them different and glue them in open or closed position as you like. There is a boatman that may just exit the deckhouse.

I enclose some pictures how I supported the prints. Hope it’s helpful. If you like, print and built this model, please publish a make. Hope there is someone, who has use of this model for his layout or diorama.

Model is sized for British n-scale (1:148). Conversion values:
Continental N-scale, 1:160 -> 92.5%
TT-gauge, 1:120 -> 123%
HO/H0-gauge, 1:87 -> 170%
OO/00-gauge, 1:76 -> 195%
S-gauge, 1:64 -> 231%
O-gauge, 1:48 -> 308%

Note: Going more into details the designs are more difficult to print. My designs are oriented on resin print. Some experience and a well-adjusted printer/resin setting is assumed. For beginners in 3D-printing I strongly recommend starting with simpler designs or scale up these models to larger scale.
