This plate is a template for a 25mm scale (for 1-inch scale, scale it up to 101.6%) battle grid of dots for tabletop RPGs or war games, inspired by Dimension 20's battle maps.
On D20, the battle maps don't always allow for clear, built-in grids, so they often use dots at the corners rather than grid lines. This map from Neverafter has the dots clearly visible.
This plate can be used to mark out a 6"x6" grid of dots by painting straight down through the holes, regardless of the geometry of the surface underneath it.
