I made this panelled chest to practice gilding. It comes in many pieces, which you will need super glue together. I recommend Gorilla Superglue Gel.
1 x base
2 x box face ('figure of 8' shaped pieces which are the front and back frames)
4 x cross bar (fiddly little things)
1 x lid base (open rectangle frame)
2 x lid side (semi circular frames)
1 x lid centre beam (a simple arch)
2 x face panel (big rectangle)
2 x side panel (small rectangle)
2 x lid side panel (semicircular)
1 x lid top panel (roof)
Take the two large frames (figure of 8 shaped) and join them by gluing THREE of the cross bars at any three corners. You will glue the fourth only once the panels are installed.
If you plan on painting the parts, do it now.
Insert the two large rectangular panels, you may need to sand the edges to make it fit. Then install the two smaller side panels before gluing the fourth crossbar in place. This is the bottom half of the chest complete, which should slot into the base. Depending on tolerances it should just slot in, but sand/glue as you need.
For the lid, start by gluing the semicircular side frames onto the curved panel. Then fit the last two panels. Carefully glue the base of the lid and the lid centre beam in place. The model is complete. Sort out a hinge maybe.
