Summary

This chess board has keyed slots, so each piece sticks in and turns a little bit so that they won't fall out easily. There are also extra holding slots all the way around to hold the pieces as they are removed from play. I designed this chess board because my brother loves playing chess while shingling roofs and the magnetic sets left much to be desired.

The tricky part is that when printing the chess board you need to pause and do a colour change several times (I also recommend using Prusa slicers variable layer height to increase the number of layers for the different white sections so they show up clearer.). As an example, assume you're printing out 0.15mm layer heights: start with black and then at approximately 0.95mm layer height switch to white, then back to black at 1.4 mm, and then again to white at 5.45mm, and finally back to black at 5.90mm
