This towel hook actually snags a towel's corner. It's good when you won't often remove the towel. Once it's snagged on there it is not easily coming off.
I made this to fit a standard interior hollow core door (1 3/8 thickness), near a cleanup sink so there's always a towel within reach. The door is hung with the average amount of clearance, and it can be closed without touching the hanger.
No screw holes required, but with a minor redesign a slotted holder like this could be screwed into place if desired.
I'd never seen these before.
Searching for ideas, I notice the pictured commercial unit with 3 "hooks". I think that one is pot metal, chromed, and cost about $30 US. My attempts to copy that shape became too much work and I gave it up.
