The file 'Tough Door Hanger 3D Printer Model' is (stl,SLDPRT,STL) file type, size is 3.2MB.
This is a door hanger that I made to hold my backpack on my door.
I wanted a design that could:
-Hold at least 20-30 lbs
-Could be printed in PLA
-Could easily be printed without supports.
The final design, uploaded as the .STL file, was tested with SolidWorks (SW) simulation (FEA) using ballpark values for PLA. (Found here: https://www.sd3d.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/MaterialTDS-PLA_01.pdf)
Topology optimization was used to indicate which areas material could be removed from the initial configuration to reduce part weight and footprint. The study was then used as a reference for changing the part design.
The final design was modeled and tested in FEA with a 50 pound load and reached only 5% of the yield stress for pure PLA. (screenshot of static analysis: https://imgur.com/a/FRSnoge)
