V2 UPDATE
This new version of the base allows for filament to travel upward more without bending. This is beneficial for taller prints where you are nearing the height capacity of the printer. All other parts are untouched and are compatible with this new base.
I purchased a tent for my Kobra Plus that was not tall enough to accomodate a vertical top mount spool support. This was made for the Kobra Max & Plus but it should work on other printers that have a similar Z crossbar. Just make sure the screw and slot placement match up before you start.
This design uses an 6202-2RS bearing in the hole contained within the block. The spool attachment slides down into the center of the bearing. I have tested this setup now for a few months and it works great!
I have been using this setup for months now and it works great.
I suggest that you also consider using the following thing to minimze strain on your extruder:
