The file 'Toilet Flush Grips For Ifö Aqua (1984-1991) Heart Or V. Putin (Pootin Hehe) 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 816.1KB.
Ever since I moved into my house three years ago, my toilet has been missing the flush pull-knob.
It's an old toilet, from when the house was built, so replacement parts aren't very cheap, if available atall.
To buy a new knob, I would need to buy a rather expensive floater-parts replacement kit, and I'm just too cheap to pay about $50 for that, when I just need the knob. My floater works perfectly even though the toilet is 30 years old.
So I figured I would make one myself. After experimenting a bit with different threading configurations, I found one that fits the threading on the toilet flush pull-rod.
So... having a 3D printer, I could pretty much anything on top.
First thought was just a regular sphere, but I quickly realized that would be too boring.
So I thought... why not a heart, since red filament was loaded into the printer anyway.
So I found a nice heart model, curtesey of MicrosoftStore, and adjusted it a bit to fit my purpose. Lovely.
But I was interrupted by more important matters before I could get a chance to start the print, and by the time I got back to the computer I had a better idea. Why not put a bust of someone on the knob.
But who... so I searched for busts, and stumbled upon a bust of Vladimir Putin from bobnojio. Perfect!
I had to simplify it alot though, the polygon count was much higher than I needed for this small an object, also I had to remove the text on the back of the bust base (it wouldn't be readable at that small size anyway).
Finally done, I think it's a great idea :-)
Printer started now, can't wait till it finished in two hourd :-D
Edit 2016-02-09: Added a photo after I painted it with shiny white car paint spray - it looks almost ceramic now, just a perfect match for the toilet :-)
Perfection is in the details :-)
